An official Underground Railroad Site in downstate Illinois

This trip was a powerful experience for me. The church on the right was near a waterway and the woods. The one room cabin on the left was deep into the woods, right near the water. This is where the church hid folks as part of the underground railroad system. Walking back to the cabin, in those woods, seeing the eroded and depressed rocks form a path at the bank where the trail had been well traveled was almost surreal. It was as if I was there, hiding from would-be captors, fabled haints in the trees and all.

I feel the need to put a disclaimer on this one. During this writing workshop a wonderful writer wrote a scene from a fiction book she plans to publish. The book is about a woman who works as... well the book has a unique storyline with an unusual twist dealing with a sort of "lady of the night". As a result, a couple of my examples related to the woman's idea. It was all about relating to the audience :-). Yep. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We Are Not Victims: A Female Moment
Directed by Miss Maya (my daughter - who did not expect this to be a debut... She was just familiarizing herself with a new camera.)
Also, I just noticed my TD Jakes speech pattern at the beginning of the taping. What's up with that? The name of the book is WHERE I've Been :-).
